An 8 week course for dogs aged over 18 weeks of age. The course includes, amongst other things:
Only 8-10 dogs are accepted on each course. This ensures maximum attention from the two trainers. At Fast Track we use clicker training to train our dogs. This is a wonderful, fast, and fun method of training your dog. Once you've mastered the technique you can apply the same training to the family cat, budgie, or rabbit! Clicker training is derived from the methods used to train marine mammals. Ever wondered how the trainers encourage a killer whale to jump through a hoop? Well, you can't threaten a killer whale, shouting doesn't work, and it's unlikely to respond to a choke chain with a display of obedience! People who train dogs to assist disabled people also use this method, as do many who train animals for film work. Why not come along without your dog to watch the classes before you sign up for a course? You'll be very welcome and it will reassure you that the methods we use are kind, fair and effective. Please Note: This is not a Reform School for aggressive dogs, so please contact us for a behavioural consulation if your dog displays aggression towards other dogs or people. Also, if your dog is excessively noisy we cannot accept you onto the course as it becomes too disruptive for everyone. One-to-one training is available for these dogs until they are relaxed enough to attend classes (barking is often a sign of stress). If you are unsure how your dog will react to the presence of other dogs, please feel free to contact us to discuss. |
